    Why is counterspell banned?

In Modern, counterspell is forbidden. Only cards that were published in a set that was formerly standard legal after the format’s inception are allowed in Modern. Counterspell wasn’t included in the format because it was released through a supplemental set that didn’t go through standard.

Why is mana drain so expensive?

Mana Drain was initially printed as an Uncommon in Legends, but as a result of its increasing scarcity, it has grown to be an extremely costly card. A card with so much power could never be reprinted into a Standard-legal set, and the Legends print run was minuscule in comparison to the steadily expanding player base.

Will Mana Drain go back up in price?

Since the card is still legal in Commander, it might be experiencing a surge in demand from cEDH. One important thing, though, that you must keep in mind is that Mana Drain is not on the Reserved List. It can, has been, and most likely will be printed again. The price will start to decline once again after that.

    Why was Lurrus banned vintage?

Wizards chose to outlaw the card because they believed the power level advantage of having Lurrus as a companion was excessively strong in comparison to its deck-building cost. As a result, Lurrus became the first card in Vintage to be outright prohibited (as opposed to restricted) due to its extreme potency.
