Leeds cannot afford the reportedly desired Arsenal winger because of price

The names of Jesse Marsch of Leeds United, Erik ten Hag of Manchester United, Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, and Antonio Conte of Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs that have been linked with Cody Gakpo, a winger currently playing for PSV and the Netherlands national team. Cody Gakpo is in high demand.

After the 2022 Qatar World Cup is over, Liverpool and Manchester United intend to meet with representatives of Gakpo to discuss a potential partnership.

The 23-year-old player is currently in Qatar competing for the Netherlands national team.

The newspaper The Mirror reported in October that Arsenal and Leeds are interested in acquiring the player who is currently 23 years old during the transfer window that will open in January.

Dean Jones, a journalist, has indicated to Give Me Sport that Tottenham may make an offer for the winger in the month of January.

It is going to be difficult for PSV to keep hold of the winger Gakpo because there are so many clubs that are interested in him. The player himself has given hints that he is open to leaving the Dutch giants after the 2022 World Cup.

After all, the winger is well aware of the high regard in which he is held, particularly in light of his performances for the Netherlands national team in Qatar.

At the World Cup in 2022, the player, who is 23 years old, has scored three goals for the Netherlands.

This season, the winger has contributed to PSV’s success in the UEFA Europa League by scoring three goals and providing two assists in five matches played so far in that competition. He has also scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in PSV’s 14 matches played in the Eredivisie.

However, Leeds is one club that does not appear to be a likely destination for Gakpo to move to in January.

The reason for this is that the head coach of Leeds, Jesse Marsch, has stated that the club will no longer be able to afford the winger.

The head coach from the United States also mentioned that the team from West Yorkshire was extremely close to completing the signing of the winger during the summer of 2022.

Cody Gakpo, who was wanted by Arsenal, will not be signed by Leeds.

According to a transcription provided by The Yorkshire Evening Post, Marsch made the following statement to Men In Blazers host Roger Bennett: “It’s difficult for us at Leeds because I think Gakpo has gotten out of our price range.”

“During the summer, we came extremely close to finalizing a transfer for him. I mean, we were so close, but unfortunately it looks like we won’t be winning after all.

“Our sports director was in Holland and was meeting with the family, had agreed on terms on everything, was talking with PSV. I mean, we were already 99.9 percent of the way [there], so I felt bad for Victor Orta and all of the effort that he put into it.
