Will Fox renew the off-key country music drama series “Monarch” for a second season?

People may be turned off by a drama series about the “First Family of country music,” but the fact that Susan Sarandon, who won an Academy Award for Thelma and Louise, stars in the series as a gaudy, aging country star will surely win them back.

The multigenerational family drama Monarch was created by Melissa London Hilfers and stars Anna Friel as Nicolette “Nicky” Roman, a country music heir who tries to continue (or take over) her mother Dottie Cantrell Roman’s (Susan Sarandon) legacy. In the midst of her efforts to become a superstar, a long-standing sibling rivalry and some dark family secrets come to light.

The Rotten Tomatoes score for the Fox series is currently at a lackluster 31 percent, and the audience score is even lower at 25 percent. The series also stars Trace Adkins (Old Henry), a country singer who was nominated for a Grammy and who plays Albie Roman. Due to the fact that Monarch appears to be a little bit pitchy, it is unclear as to whether or not it will be given a second season. Let’s get into it.

Will the second season of ‘Monarch’ on Fox be ordered to be produced?

Since it is common knowledge that ratings are not the sole factor considered when deciding whether or not to renew a television series, it is possible that Monarch will be given a second season. As of this moment, the show that is very similar to Nashville has neither been renewed nor canceled.

The first season of Monarch “averages a 0.28 rating in the 18–49 demographic and 1.90 million viewers in the Live + Same Day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 a.m.),” as reported by TV Series Finale. These statistics do not take into account any subsequent streaming.

According to Variety, the 19th through the 25th of September is the week that Nielsen considers to be the beginning of the 2022–2023 television season. On September 19, 2022, which was the second episode of the show, the publication wrote that “Together, The Cleaning Lady and Monarch helped earn Fox its most-watched fall Monday since Dec. 2, 2019, with an average of 5.8 million total viewers in MP + 7.” This was the date of the show’s second episode.

It’s possible that reaching that milestone will be enough to save Monarch.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Blade, also known as “Southern California’s LGBTQ news source,” Monarch actor Kevin Cahoon (So Cold the River) opened up about his experience playing hairdresser Earl Clark (who is inspired by real-life hairstylist Earl Cox), and he even hinted at the possibility of a Season 2 of the show.

“When you get to episodes six, seven, and eight of the series, more is revealed about what Earl knows and how long he’s been around. This marks an important turning point in the story. He lives with his family on the ranch, which is called The Brambles “he said in regard to his personality. “The job was a fairytale come true. I wake up laughing because I’m praying that I’ll have more dreams like that one. [laughs] When we get to the second season, we’ll find out what happens.”

Is it possible that he just mentioned “Season 2”? Kevin continued by saying that he thinks a second installment “is in the pipeline,” but we’ll have to wait and see if this is indeed the case.

On the evening of Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at nine o’clock Eastern Standard Time (EST), Fox will broadcast the season one finale of Monarch.
